COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department is looking for the driver of a SUV involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash Wednesday night.
CSPD said a man was hit by a dark-colored SUV around 7:48 p.m. on South Nevada Avenue.
When officers arrived, they said they found the pedestrian dead in the road.
The department said the pedestrian was walking across South Nevada Avenue when he was hit by the vehicle and the driver fled the scene.
CSPD said its Major Crash Team is leading the investigation.
This death marks the 39th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs. This time last year Colorado Springs had 46 traffic fatalities, according to the department.
