COLORADO SPRINGS — Veterans were honored Monday morning during a wreath laying ceremony held at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

The Special Forces Association was one of many sponsors for the event.

Although the majority of those in attendance wore the green beret, they said the day is important for all who served.

"We've had people that the one percent of Americans that have chosen to serve in the military, and this is a day for all of them," said Howard Massingill, US Army retired.

Massingill said he's served around the world and would do it all again.
