COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado CASA is looking for volunteers to get involved in its newest campaign.

The "Change a Child's Story" campaign was announced last week to try and get 2,020 more volunteers by the end of next year.

The organization said its volunteers serve as advocates for children in the child welfare system who often experience abuse, neglect or other "adverse childhood experiences."

Colorado CASA said there were 2,179 volunteers last year that advocated for 4,857 children.

If you'd like to become a volunteer, there are five steps you can take.

Potential volunteers will need to reach out to a local program, apply, complete a background check, go through training and finally be appointed by a judge.
