COLORADO SPRINGS — Dozens of people decided to take advantage of free food and flu shots at the Pikes Peak Library District, Saturday.
The Colorado Springs Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Colorado Springs Black Business Network, well as US Bank, partnered to put on this socially distant health fair.
"US Bank has partnered with the Black Chamber, and we're just here to give flu shots to the community," explained Natasha Hutson, a Business Banker with US Bank.
President of the Colorado Springs Black COC, Janet Brugger says she hopes her organization can do more events centered around health.
"We know that COVID has affected the African-American community quite a bit and we thought that we could bring these flu shots who were donated by Matthews-VU Medical Group, and just bring them to the community," Brugger said.
The event was spaced out and included a live DJ. Everyone wore masks, and hand sanitizer was provided. A food truck full of snacks was parked in the parking lot for attendees.
