COLORADO SPRINGS — Students at Civa Charter High walked out of school Wednesday to bring awareness to what they say are major safety issues at the school.

One issue students say they are concerned about is the number of suicide attempts at the school and the lack of action by administration.

"We've had students attempt and it's heartbreaking to know that they don't feel supported by the school and we don't want that anymore," said junior, Kaylie Smith.

"I believe it's a misunderstanding, the concerns that have been expressed. So we'll do everything we can to clear that up," Headmaster, Randy Zimmerman said.

Students say they've met with Zimmerman and the Board of Directors but were shut down multiple times. They also said that if changes aren't made, they plan to go the District 11 School Board for help.
