COLORADO SPRINGS — Cheyenne Mountain High School is moving forward in changing its mascot.
According to a draft resolution adopted by the board of education, the school is looking to phase out the Indian as a mascot and team name by August 1, 2021.
This followed public debate and an online petition to change the name, which generated over 2,000 signatures.
The board still needs to vote on the mascot change to make it official.
