CAÑON CITY — A local church in Cañon City is helping people with their hospital finances.

Cañon City Catalyst Church has teamed up with RIP Medical Debt to help pay for medical debts for people in Colorado.

RIP has already turned the church's $20,000 donation into $2 million that will help out 39 counties in Colorado, which includes Fremont County's debt of $130,000.

"We felt we were really called to do this and provide some relief to families who feel the crushing weight of medical debt. Generosity breeds generosity, and we hope others will join us in an effort to eradicate
medical debt entirely, in the state of Colorado," said Cañon City Catalyst Church Pastor Ryan McBride.

The other counties that have been helped out include Chaffee, Custer, Lake and Park counties.
