Bomb squad sent to Pueblo nursing home

PUEBLO — On Thursday afternoon, a bomb squad was sent to the University Park Nursing Home in Pueblo after police received a report about a suspicious package.

The situation started at around 2 p.m. when the package was found in front of the facility. A shelter-in-place was put into effect for residents inside the nursing home.

At around 6:30 p.m. the area was declared "clear" and the "suspected explosive device," was dismantled.

A person of interest was taken in for questioning. News 5 has not learned who this person was or if they are connected to the nursing home.

News 5 has a crew at the scene right now and will provide updates as they come in.
