PUEBLO — A week after a majority of Pueblo voters decided to keep Black Hills Energy as the energy provider, the company said it is focused on trying to lower rates.

Black Hills said Thursday a major focus moving forward is renewable energy.

The company said it is choosing a bidder to work on its Renewable Advantage Plan, which would benefit its rate payers.

"It is going to bring cost savings to our customers and then it is going to be a significant economic development within our communities," said Vance Crocker from Black Hills Energy.

The company also said it will work with the City of Pueblo about freezing base rates for customers in the short term.
