COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police have identified the bicyclist killed in an accident Sunday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a crash involving a black Subaru and bicyclist on Centennial Blvd. and High Tech Way.
CSPD said the investigation revealed the bicyclist, who has been identified as 74-year-old Richard Timberlake, was southbound on Centennial Blvd., just south of High Tech Way, when the he drove into the southbound lane of traffic and was struck by the southbound Subaru.
First responders provided aid to Timerblake before transporting him to a nearby hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
This is the 42nd traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs this year.
Neither excessive speeds nor impairment is suspected at this time, according to CSPD.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing.
