COLORADO SPRINGS — Parents understand that kids in elementary school are constantly outgrowing their clothes and shoes at a pace that's hard to keep up with!

Well, Audobon Elementary School is working together to help parents with clothes for their kids.

They're looking for anyone to help donate hats, scarves, long sweatshirts, hoodies and pants sizes 4T up to 14 and 16. They could also use school supplies!

This drive is hosted by Audubon Parent Teacher Association. They're just trying to make the holidays a little bit easier on these families who may be struggling to make ends meet.

"You can help ease the parents mind you know parents always want to be sure that all their need are met of their kids you know keeping them warm safe happy fed and clothed," said Catherine Fuston, who manages social media for the Audubon Elementary PTA. "So if we can help ease part of that burden, we definitely want to do so."

The PTA is a 501-3C nonprofit organization, so they depend on contributions and fundraising to help the students in their community. Even though fundraisers have been canceled, they're hoping to still give back in this way.

This clothing drive is happening the month of December.

Even though you can't go inside the school due to COVID safety protocol, you can drop by Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The address to Audubon Elementary School is 2400 E Van Buren St, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.

You can hit the front office buzzer and someone will come out to collect donations. It's as easy as cleaning out your closet of things your kids no longer use or need.

The PTA also says, if you'd like to help your school, simply call and ask what they need help with. Chances are, they could use a helping hand and will take you up on the offer.
