TELLER COUNTY — The Teller County Sheriff's Office responded to an address on Valley View Drive, north of Florissant, Thursday morning after a man reported he had been shot at.

The caller said multiple rounds hit his vehicle as he was leaving an address across the street from 304 Valley View Drive.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies determined the suspect was likely the resident at that address, a man named David Strang who had a felony warrant for menacing related to domestic violence. An additional arrest warrant was then obtained for attempted murder.

The person inside the residence was advised of the warrants and told to come out and surrender. After a "lengthy" period of time, deputies noticed smoke and flames coming from a second-story window.

The Sheriff's Office said fire crews responded immediately but could not approach the home because the suspect was believed to be armed.

Eventually, the second-story of the home became completely engulfed in fire and the suspect came out and surrendered.

The Sheriff's Office said the suspect has been identified as David Strang. He was booked into the Teller County Jail on the following charges: attempted homicide, felony menacing, and domestic violence.
