PUEBLO — The man whose car was flipped into a nearby restaurant during a hit and run accident in Pueblo, Gary Amendola, was left with serious injuries after the incident. Jessica Hunyadi was arrested on July 3 in connection to the case.
Gary Amendola was involved in a hit and run accident last week that sent him to the hospital with four broken vertebrae, a broken rib, and a concussion among other things. "At his age, those injuries are not easy to come back from," said his daughter, Deana Lucero. Amendola's Jeep was totaled in the accident.
Amendola is now back home and on oxygen. 31-year-old Jessica Hunyadi was arrested on pre-existing warrants, which gives Lucero a little peace of mind. "I'm still at unease, because you know, if they don't have insurance, and all of these bills are coming to my dad, what is my dad going to do?" said Lucero.
Lucero said they still are unsure of how much money the incident will cost, but she does have a message for Hunyadi. "I just want you to know what you put our family through, you could have killed my dad, you didn't know if you killed my dad," said Lucero. Charges pending against Hunyadi include failure to remain at the scene after an accident involving serious bodily injury, failure to notify police of an accident, and careless driving resulting in serious bodily injury.
Lucero also said she hopes Hunyadi will take responsibility for her alleged actions that left Amendola with life changing injuries.
