COLORADO SPRINGS — Wednesday, Academy District 20 released an updated back to school plan.

The district said the new plan has greater detail, specifics, and learning options than the plan released a few weeks ago.

The district still plans to start on Aug. 24.

In addition to 100 percent online learning, the district will now offer hybrid and synchronous learning options. Hybrid means students attend both virtually and in person. Synchronous means students attend class at home, in real-time, simultaneously with students attending in person.

The district said the plan was built around three goals:

  • Implementing protocols and structures that protect the health and safety of students and staff.
  • Developing educational options for students and parents.
  • Maximizing academic and social-emotional growth opportunities for students.

The district added that because of the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, conditions could change, meaning the plan and/or the start to school could also change.

You can find the complete plan as well as additional information on students returning to school on the district's website.
