Homicide suspect killed in confrontation with police at Pueblo mobile home park

PUEBLO — A suspect in a homicide in Pueblo is dead following a chase, standoff and officer-involved shooting inside a mobile home on DeLeon Rd Friday afternoon. No officers were injured in this incident.

According to police spokesperson Captain Kenny Rider, 6 officers are on administrative leave as the critical incident team begins the investigation into the shooting.  It is not clear if the suspect fired any shots during the standoff.

Pueblo Police are on DeLeon Rd at a mobile home park where a suspect is dead following and officer-involved shooting.Rider referred to the impact on the department as “huge” due to other officers needing to backfill shifts, cover overtime and handle the investigation.

The suspect was spotted this afternoon on the east side of town in a white Dodge Ram similar to the once reported leaving the scene of a homicide on Sunday.  Officers were involved in a chase that ended at the mobile home park where the suspect went into a home and barricaded himself, according to police.

Others inside the home came out peacefully, but SWAT spent roughly 45 minutes trying to reach a peaceful resolution before shots were fired. According to Capt. Rider, the officers knew the suspect was armed.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time.

You can expect to see investigators at the mobile home park near Constitution and 8th Street for several more hours.
