FALCON – Firefighters say wind helped a grass fire spread Thursday morning in Falcon, but they were able to quickly get it under control.

The Falcon Fire Department was called to the 14000 block of Falcon Highway around 10:55 a.m. and found a small outside fire spreading due to the wind. The department says several homes and other buildings were in danger.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames so it was confined to just about 2.5 acres of grass. No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Crews from the Peyton Fire Protection District, Ellicott Fire Protection District, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and AMR were on hand to help Falcon firefighters.
