COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs police said a K-9 helped officers catch a suspect wanted on multiple felony warrants late Tuesday night.

Police said they received a tip that 26-year-old Jaime Cardona was at an apartment in the 800 block of Tenderfoot Hills Road, located near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Venetucci Boulevard.

Police said they tried to talk with people in the apartment when they spotted Cardona. According to police, he ran to a second-floor balcony and jumped to escape officers. That’s when police say CSPD K-9 Ozzie tracked him down and assisted police in the arrest.

In addition to his previous warrants, Cardona was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and animal abuse.

Police arrested a second woman, 43-year-old Elizabeth Hopkins, for obstructing a police officer. Police said she was at the apartment when they first arrived.
