CANON CITY – Tuesday morning, Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies and CPW officers responded to a mountain lion in a tree in Canon City.

The Sheriff’s Office said the cat was in a tree in the 1700 block of Poplar in Canon City.

The office said it appeared the young lion had been treed by domestic dogs in the area.

CPW officers safely tranquilized the lion and removed it from the tree.

The Sheriff’s Office said that because of the lion’s age, it will stay at a rehab facility until it can get a little bigger and will then be returned to the wild.
