ASPEN – A former Aspen city councilman and mayoral candidate is being accused of stealing millions of dollars worth of skis, snowboards, and other goods while working for Aspen Ski Company.

The alleged thefts took place over more than a decade.

The Aspen Times reported that 51-year-old Derek Johnson and his wife Kerry have been charged with felony theft.

Police found stolen goods in a storage unit the couple rented.

Johnson was fired last December.
