CDOT to host public meeting on marijuana-impaired driving in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Department of Transportation’s Cannabis Conversation will be making a stop in Colorado Springs for a public meeting to gather input from the community about marijuana-impaired driving.

Member of the community are welcome to attend and voice their opinions, concerns, insights, and ideas on marijuana-impaired driving.

In addition to taking comment from the community, CDOT said they will also be unveiling several creative concepts and messages for a future educational ad campaign on the topic and asking for feedback from attendees.

The meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, April 16th from 5:30 -7 p.m. at the Warehouse Restaurant Gallery, located at 25 W. Cimarron St.  Food and light refreshments will be provided.

Attending the meeting will be CDOT, the Southern Colorado Cannabis Council, Native Roots Dispensary, and organizations representing public health, prevention, and law enforcement.

CDOT said the Cannabis Conversation is a statewide traffic safety campaign that aims to engage Coloradans in a meaningful discussion about marijuana and driving.

According to CDOT, Colorado State Patrol noted a 25 percent increase in marijuana DUI citations from 2017 to 2018. The agency also said that more than 20 percent of all DUI citations issued by State Patrol in 2018 involved marijuana.
