EL PASO COUNTY – A wildfire that burned a little less than 3 acres west of Highway 115 near Cheyenne Mountain State Park is contained.
All evacuations prompted by the “Pawnee Fire” were lifted around 6:30 p.m. Firefighters remained on scene afterward to mop up hot spots and monitor the area for possible flare-ups.
No one was injured and no structures were lost.
At one time, residents of the Rock Creek Mesa neighborhood were placed under mandatory evacuation orders. A mobile home park in the area was also under pre-evacuation orders before firefighters gained the upper hand on the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
