LONGMONT – The community is gathering to remember a Colorado State Patrol trooper who was killed while helping a stranded driver during the blizzard last week.

Services begin at 10 a.m. to remember Corporal Daniel Groves at the LifeBridge Church in Longmont. Gov. Polis will deliver the eulogy at the service.

Groves, 52, served with CSP since 2007.

An out of control car hit Groves while he was outside of his patrol vehicle off of westbound I-76 near Roggen, which is in the southeastern corner of Weld County.

He died from his injuries a short time later after being taken to the Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. He is survived by his partner of two years.
