PUEBLO – The El Pueblo Museum has been nominated for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service.
It’s one of 30 finalists for the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries.
“I think the reason why we got nominated is because it is really the community telling their own history here at our museum as much as us telling anything,” said Community Relations Manager Zach Werkowitch.
El Pueblo is the only Colorado museum nominated for the award. It’s up against the likes of the National Civil Rights Museum and the 9-11 Memorial.
The museum should learn the results by April 30th.
