DENVER – The bill to repeal Colorado’s death penalty has cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The bill now heads to the Senate floor for debate.

Senate bill 182 would abolish the death penalty in Colorado but would not change the status of the three prisoners currently on death row.

However, Governor Polis has said he’d consider commuting their sentences.
