DENVER – A bill going through the state legislature could help the Pueblo West Fire Department.
The House bill would allow special districts, like Pueblo West, to create a sales tax to help out their fire districts.
The Pueblo West Fire Chief said this would definitely help his department.
“This will allow the Fire Department to secure specific revenue that allows us to improve that public safety by adding this new fire station and the firefighters that it’s required to have,” said Chief Brian Caserta.
If this bill becomes law, Pueblo West would have to let voters decide if they want to be taxed.
