COLORADO SPRINGS – A 37-year old man is dead after a serious accident last Friday. Joseph Quinones was the passenger in the back seat of an older Nissan Rogue that was headed southbound on Ridge Rd. at Pikes Peak Ave. when the driver went through a barricade showing the road closed. The Nissan went over a barrier wall and into a construction crane parked on the site.
Police say construction workers had just wrapped up their workday about 5 minutes before the crash. There were three people in the Nissan when it crashed. All of them were seriously injured and taken to area hospitals. Quinones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and he succumbed to his injuries the next day.
No charges have been filed in this case, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time. Mr. Quinones is the sixth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2019. At this time last year, there were also six traffic fatalities
