COLORADO SPRINGS – An El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy honored Tuesday for his work in keeping the community safe from impaired drivers.

This years Ken Jordan Award was handed to Deputy Edwin Wilson. He has been a part of the sheriff’s office for almost five years. During one of his stops, he helped to uncover a large quantity of illegal drugs.

‘It just goes back to just educating people that, hey, if you’re gonna do this, do this at home,” said Dep. Wilson. “Don’t drive or obviously use a taxi, Uber or Lyft.”

The award is named after Colorado Springs Officer Ken Jordan who died in the line of duty in February 2006 while stopping a suspected drunk driver. Each year it honors a law enforcement officer that goes above and beyond when it comes to enforcing DUI laws.
