COLORADO SPRINGS – A man is in the El Paso County jail following an incident at a Colorado Springs Walmart Friday night.
Colorado Springs Police said a man was outside the store on 8th Street, near the Auto Center bay doors, making homicidal and suicidal threats, armed with knives.
Officers say they were able to lock down the store before he got inside.
CSPD said the suspect, identified as Andy Anderson, was using knives to cut up his vehicle and was yelling profanity at the officers.
When the police tried to arrest Anderson, he started to drive his car towards officers who were able to move out of the way. Police used pepper spray to subdue him.
Anderson was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the struggle.
Three police cruisers had minor damage but no one was injured.
