LITTLETON – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said two people are dead after a vehicle chased by deputies crashed into another car, leaving two people dead Wednesday morning.

Authorities said they began chasing two stolen vehicles around 2:30 a.m. on Highway 85 between Castle Rock and Sedalia. Deputies said they used stop sticks, but failed to stop either of the cars.

The chase eventually ended at Santa Fe Drive and Mineral Avenue in Littleton when one of the stolen vehicles crashed into another car, killing both people inside that vehicle. The suspect who was driving one of the stolen vehicles was arrested. The scene of the crash is approximately 14 miles to the north from where the chase first started.

The second stolen vehicle was recovered away from the scene. Deputies could not find that suspect.

Northbound lanes on Santa Fe Dr at Mineral are now open. Eastbound lanes on Mineral at Santa Fe Dr are still closed while the investigation continues.
