COLORADO SPRINGS – Hundreds were in attendance for the annual Colorado Springs Fire Department awards banquet.

The dinner and celebration honors the dedicated service of men and women in the department. That includes front line firefighters and program volunteers.

Awards include Firefighter of the Year, the Life Saving Award, and the Valor Award.

“Well everyday, across the city, these men and women put their lives on the line,” said Battalion Chief Steve Wilch. “There’s also staff positions that make sure that we actually can go out and fulfill our mission. So whether you’re sworn or you’re staff, everyone’s efforts are collective.”

The Department’s foundation helps to fund the event every year.
