ATF offering $5,000 reward for information on burglary of Big R in El Paso County

EL PASO COUNTY – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is seeking information on the burglary of a Big R store in eastern El Paso County.

Along with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the ATF is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspects.

According to the ATF, the Big R located at 14155 E. Hwy 24 in unincorporated El Paso County was burglarized on the morning on Sunday, Jan. 27th.

The agency said an unknown male forced his way into the store and then used an ax to smash the locked gun case. The man then made off with 13 handguns.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 5’9″ – 6′ tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black ski mask, black coat, black gloves, a black and white checkered belt, and black boots. He arrived and left the scene in a late-model dark, possibly black, Chevrolet pickup truck.
