El Paso County Sheriff’s Office identifies suspect in officer-involved shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office identified the man injured in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night at the Mountain Ridge Apartments.

Deputies said officers shot 32-year-old Thomas McGeorge. McGeorge suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has already been released to law enforcement.

Police responded to the apartment complex around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday after someone reported that multiple shots were fired in the area. When they responded to the area, they shot McGeorge, who was armed.

He was booked into the El Paso County jail on two counts of felony menacing,  third-degree assault, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.

Verde Drive was still shut down Thursday morning while investigators continued their work in the area.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting. The police officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine paid administrative leave. Their identities have not been released.
