COLORADO SPRINGS – The group behind the future War Dog Memorial in Colorado Springs says the site’s marker was found broken into pieces in Memorial Park.
Only the base of the marker was found. The top half remains missing.
News5 reported earlier this week the sandstone marker was stolen from its place in the park.
Ruby Didpath with War Dog Memorial tells News5 in part, “The theft and apparent destruction of the marker hurt, but we will continue full steam ahead to raise the balance of the funds needed to build the memorial.”
The group still needs $46,000 to reach its $200,000 goal.
Anyone with information about who destroyed the marker is asked to contact Colorado Springs police.
