COLORADO SPRINGS – Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Wildwood Pass Dr. on Saturday concerning a verbal disturbance involving a gun.

Upon arrival, officers found three males arguing in a partially open garage. They retreated into the house, shutting off all the lights when police confronted them. Officers learned of an unconscious female and two young children inside the house.

The officers made an unsuccessful attempt to communicate with the people inside the house. Concerned with the two young children and their unconscious mother inside, police entered the house safely removing the kids, their mother, and another male.

While searching inside the home, officers found a locked bathroom leading to a locked crawlspace.

Officers made way into the crawlspace and found the suspect, 33-year-old Cory Lavertue and a third male. Both men were taken into custody.
