Pueblo West woman arrested in connection to death of infant son

PUEBLO WEST – The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 24-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to the death of her infant son.

The Sheriff’s Office said Jannie Gatlin was arrested Friday night by detectives on a warrant for child abuse in connection to the death of her 10-week-old son.

Gatlin was arrested at her home after detectives obtained an arrest warrant following an autopsy report that showed here infant son died as a result of extreme malnourishment. The boy died Dec. 29th.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Parkview West Emergency Room on the suspicious death of an infant boy on the 29th. Emergency room doctors told deputies the child was unresponsive and appeared severely emaciated and dehydrated when Gatlin brought him in. Hospital personnel attempted to revive the boy, but they were unsuccessful.

“This is a very tragic situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this senseless tragedy,” said Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor.

Gatlin has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail. No further information has been released at this time.
