Pueblo Rescue Mission stays busy with cold weather

PUEBLO – With a recent cold spell, the Pueblo Rescue Mission staying busy.

The mission opened up its warming shelter earlier than usual because of the below freezing temperatures.

“These folks were grateful to be in because it was so cold,” said Kathy Klein who works with the Pueblo Rescue Mission.

With the early opening, the mission says it serves more than 70 people each night. Two of the busiest nights were New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

“We managed it, no problems, no big issues,” said Klein.

The shelter typically opens each night around 7 p.m. The location will close its doors on April 30.
