COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers is giving law enforcement officers a pat on the back for their work on busting illegal marijuana grows.

The Mayor says the Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office have worked closely with vice and narcotics investigators to reduce the number of illegal operations in the Pikes Peak region.

A year-end report from the city shows the legalization of recreational marijuana has actually caused the black market activity in El Paso County to increase. Over 7500 marijuana plants and nearly a ton of refined weed was seized in 2018.
