PUEBLO — Pueblo Animal Services is in the process of ending its years-long operation in the Steel City.

The organization has announced a complete closure as of December 31st following recent votes by Pueblo city & county leaders to give PAWS for Life the animal law enforcement and sheltering contract for the area.

As of January 1st any sheltering needs will be addressed by PAWS for Life.  That includes all stray animal reports, animal law enforcement matters or animal health/welfare concerns.

PAWS for Life can be reached at 719-544-3005.

Pueblo Animal Services has served the community for 16 years and leaders say they took in more than 125,000 homeless, lost or abandoned pets during that time and that leaving town is a disappointment but they remain committed to the welfare and safety of all animals.
