Lakewood woman confronts porch pirate

LAKEWOOD – “I thought no way this is happening to me.”

That’s what homeowner Renee Abeyta said when she was faced with a problem that has become all too common across the country recently. Porch Pirates.

We see it all the time now, whether on the news or social media. Thieves stealing delivered packages right off of people’s porches and stoops.

This past week it happened to Renee Abeyta, but she didn’t let the porch pirate get away.

Abeyta said she got a notification from her doorbell camera, and instead of reporting the thief right away, she ran after the woman and confronted her. And she didn’t mince any words.

“What’s your name? What’s your name? Did you steal something,” Abeyta can be heard saying. She continued, “Give it! I’m gonna ******* call the police! I got you on camera *****. Give me the ******* thing now! I’m taping you.”

Abeyta didn’t give up and chased the porch pirate until the woman gave her back the package.
