PUEBLO – The Pueblo County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted down a proposal for a 750-acre solar farm that was opposed by area residents.

The board voted 3-0 against a proposal from Invenergy to build the facility near the Saint Charles River Estates subdivision.

Neighbors had previously told News 5 they opposed the facility because it was an eyesore and could increase fire risk in the area. Dozens showed up to an earlier board of county commissioners meeting to voice their opposition.

Invenergy, the company trying to build the facility, said it listened to the criticism and was willing to move the panels further away from homes. However, the final proposal for the location was not approved.

Commissioners said they are willing to listen to other proposals for other locations in Pueblo County. Invenergy indicated that it would likely try again in another location.
