WOODLAND PARK – The Woodland Park School District announced Friday that it will host a community meeting to discuss vaping and marijuana use among children.

The event will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. and will feature a representative from the Marijuana Education Initiative as a speaker.

That organization says it promotes “a balanced and informed understanding of the effects of youth marijuana use.”

The district said the discussion will focus on helping parents talk to their children about marijuana and vaping and the impacts they can have on young people.

Free food and childcare will be offered to those who attend the meeting.

Vaping, in particular, has gained increased attention in recent weeks. John Hickenlooper signed an executive order last month meant to crack down on teen vaping. Shortly after that, the USDA issued new regulations to try to make access to vape pens tougher for teenagers.
