COLORADO SPRINGS – Police arrested a Colorado Springs man accused of threatening to kill his ex-wife and her daughter while armed with an AK-47 Thursday morning.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Stephen Lakey following a pursuit around 8:35 a.m. Thursday at 3400 Afternoon Circle. That address is near Chelton Road and E. Fountain Blvd.

Police began chasing him after responding to a call from Lakey’s ex-wife. She said that he threatened to kill her, her daughter and then himself. The woman reported that he was armed with an AK-47.

When police arrived,  they spotted him in the parking lot. Officers said he refused to stop and drove away, starting a chase.

Police said Lakey pointed the rifle at officers in a threatening manner. CSPD said he eventually threw the gun out of the window and drove away from officers.

Sometime later, officers spotted him driving on a street, made contact with him and arrested him.

Lakey is charged with multiple counts of menacing with a firearm.
