PUEBLO – Pueblo City Schools staff want to help kids in Bessemer get a little bit more play time.

“Our kids deserve to have playgrounds,” said Melissa Geary, third grade teacher.

That’s why staff is looking to build a playground behind Bessemer Elementary. It’s been a dream for the past three years, and they are so close to making it a reality. They need just $10,000 more to be able to apply for a grant.

“Our principal constantly says that we do what is best for kids here and that is exactly what we are doing,” Geary said. “We are trying to do what is best for them by making sure that they have somewhere to play during recess.”

The goal is to have the playground built next year.
