COLORADO SPRINGS – The man responsible for a deadly crash at Galley and Babcock Rd. in July of 2017 is now sentenced to 12-years in prison.

31-year old Austin Weisse was sentenced on Monday in a Colorado Springs courtroom.  Weisse crashed into a van in the busy intersection and the accident killed three people, including his brother. The wreck also killed James and Danya Daily, of Colorado Springs.  Weisse was sentenced by District Judge Larry E. Schwartz after Weisse made a tearful apology.

He had pleaded guilty in October to three counts of vehicular homicide and one count of driving under the influence.  Authorities say his blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. Witnesses said the vehicle Weisse was driving was speeding and changing lanes abruptly before the crash.

Police determined Weisse was traveling up to 75 mph in a 40-mph zone at the time of the crash.
