COLORADO SPRINGS – About the time that some of the telemarketing calls about your auto warranty and your credit card debt are starting to finally drop off a bit, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a whole new scam.

If you get a  phone call and the person on the other side of the phone says they’re a Sheriff’s Office commander, just hang up. The scammer tells the victim that they have a warrant for their arrest that must be taken care of immediately.

The Sheriff’s Office says no one will ever call you to inform you that you have a warrant or demand immediate payment of money to avoid arrest. Anyone who thinks they may have been scammed should call the Sheriff’s Office.
