COLORADO SPRINGS – If you’re going to be putting up Christmas lights this year and are looking to buy new ones, Colorado Springs Utilities has the program for you.

Now through December 21st, you can drop off your old incandescent Christmas lights and get coupons to buy new LED lights.

LEDs are not only safer because they have a reduced fire risk, but they use less energy, which means a cheaper electric bill, and can last for decades.

You can drop off your lights at Colorado Springs Utilities Conservation and Environmental Center at 2855 Mesa Road.

All the old lights are recycled, with the proceeds going to Project Cope which helps families with emergencies pay their bills.
