EL PASO COUNTY – If you see smoke around Black Forest or near Pikes Peak on Tuesday, it’s likely from controlled burns.

The El Paso County Wildland Fire Management Team is burning slash piles in Fox Run Regional Park and in Black Forest Regional Park. Crews with the Forest Service are also burning slash piles near the Crystal Creek Reservoir. Smoke will be visible in both areas.

It’s part of a plan to perform wildfire mitigation and an initiative to improve forest health.  These burns will also continue throughout the winter months as conditions allow.

Do not call 911 to report this smoke.
