COLORADO SPRINGS – The rush is on to register for what is arguably the largest Thanksgiving Day gathering in Southern Colorado.

The Turkey Trot 5K is returning in 2018. It’s a tradition for serious runners, as well as families who just want a fun way to start their day. Organizers say the more the merrier, and this year, there will be more.

“We are in uncharted waters as we have broken records this year,” said Lindsey Leiker, director, Turkey Trot. “We are blowing it out of the water.”

So far, 4,141 runners have signed up, beating the record 3,919 that took past last year.

The race is a fundraiser for the YMCA and all proceeds supplement fees for those who may not have the money to participate in YMCA programs.

You can register online here, or on race day anytime between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m.

The race starts at the Briargate YMCA at 9 a.m.
