COLORADO SPRINGS – A dad was reunited with his child after a terrifying close call in Colorado Springs Wednesday night.

Colorado Springs Police said a car with an infant inside was stolen but was later found abandoned blocks away from the scene in southeast Colorado Springs Wednesday night.

Officers said a man told them that he left his infant inside his running car when he briefly went inside his home to grab something just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. When he came back out, the car was gone.

The car was stolen at a home off of Whittier Drive, near the intersection of Pikes Peak Avenue and S. Murray Blvd. Police said they found it abandoned less than a mile away. The infant was not hurt.

Police said they do not have a suspect description, except that he was wearing a black sweatshirt. Anyone with information about what happened should call Colorado Springs Police at 719-444-7000. You can also leave an anonymous tip with CrimeStoppers at 719-634-STOP.
