WELD COUNTY – Two women are dead after they were struck by a train just north of Platteville in northern Colorado.
Both of them were inside a Nissan Altima when the car collided with a train at Highway 85 and Weld County Road 34 at about 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Witnesses told investigators that they believe the driver of the Nissan may have run the stop sign at the intersection just prior to being hit by the train.
The accident is under investigation and the names of the victims have not been released as of yet.
